Why I am starting a clothing brand

Hello👋! 

I got a lot of questions about why (on earth) I was going to start a clothing brand?

I spent 15 years working in water management, from designing sewer systems in Hendrik Ido Ambacht to doing field work in exotic river beds and building software. I learned that water is the most precious resource we have, and that it is under more and more pressure. 💦

The fashion industry is one of the most water-intensive industries in the world.

Yet I have always loved clothes and making them myself. I love different textures, colors, bold silhouettes and the magic 🪄of turning a scrap of leftover fabric into something beautiful. I believe clothing gives color to the world and expresses who we are. 🧵🪡

Now I want to combine these two worlds and explore whether I can build a sustainable clothing brand and help change an industry that IMO is very ill and needs to change. 

My takeaways from this week:

• So many people (even strangers) wanted to help without expecting anything in return!
• Making the decision to start was much harder than actually starting.
