Building Frederika during the heatwave

Hello👋!

This week was slightly shorter than planned, mostly because of the massive heatwave with “gevoelstemperaturen” of 43!!🥵 degrees in my hometown.

I started with solving some technical problems, which (of course) took up more of my time than I thought. I merged my newsletter subscriptions and I’m still trying to block a wave of random fanmail that I’m getting.: “Greetings from partners. Do you ship locally and globally?" from Salestips2006 was my favorite mail.

After three weeks I'm realising that working 40 hours a week completely on your own is a lot. Especially when you don’t have any fun colleagues to talk to. Being a bit of an extravert person I knew beforehand that starting something by myself would probably be one of the biggest challenges, and that I would eventually need something like a co-working space.

“Eventually" has already arrived in week 3

So I am now looking for a co-working space in Utrecht, preferably one with nice people to chat to. Tips are welcome!

I promise I won’t mind if my new co-workers eat a basket of aioli in the morning😉! Speaking of. The woman in the library was there again! This time she was eating aioli with chocolate mikado sticks..... Why?!! Is this a tiktok trend I’m missing out on?

Back on a serious note! I would like to end this news letter with a reading tip💡. In this article from the Volkskrant you can read about the effects of climate change and industrial water use  on 🌊waterlevels in the Caspian Sea. Spoiler: because the basin is closed, no outflow to the sea, the effects are very visible. Water levels are now at a historic low. This is causing serious problems for fishermen🎣 and potential new trade routes from Europe to China.

And although fashion is not always the first thing people connect to water, many clothes have a significant water footprint too.  So a gentle reminder to think twice before you buy a water-consuming 👕T-shirt that costs 2700 litres of water to produce...
